Debtor

Jaburg & Wilk was initially founded as a specialty bankruptcy boutique firm primarily representing debtors. Three of the owners of the firm, each have over 25 years experience in representing both debtors and creditors in thousands of business, real estate and consumer bankruptcies, as well as workouts. We have represented numerous individuals, businesses, financial institutions, mortgage companies, trustees, and creditors' committees in Chapters 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy proceedings.

Within our bankruptcy department are two specialists certified by the State Bar of Arizona as bankruptcy specialists as well as two attorneys that are certified by the American Board of Certification one in business bankruptcy and the other attorney in both business and consumer law bankruptcy. Both the firm’s experience and expertise runs deep in bankruptcy law.

During the recent changes in the Bankruptcy Code, our attorneys were quoted by local media and also have spoken extensively on the new code and its impact on both debtors and creditors. Our attorneys are frequent lecturers at seminars and conferences as well as authoring articles on bankruptcy for publication in legal and trade magazines.

While no one knows exactly how the new bankruptcy code will impact both creditors and debtors, filing of Chapter 7 bankruptcies have fallen precipitously since the new code was effective in October of 2005. We understand the new code and are able to counsel individuals and businesses within the new bankruptcy landscape including strategies and work-out solutions to help our clients avoid bankruptcy.
