Jaburg Wilk MANA House & Catholic Charities 2019

PHOENIX, Ariz. (6/10/2019) – The law firm of Jaburg Wilk again supported the relief efforts for Catholic Charities Community Services Bless Refugees

Employees of the firm raised more than $1,500 dollars to purchase essentials for both programs as well as donating hygiene supplies, clothing, and bedding. In addition to the donations of several large boxes of hygiene care items for the refugee program, they purchased cases of diapers, cleaning supplies, and personal care supplies. The Bless this Refugee program was started in 1975 in response to the Vietnam refugees fleeing violence and continues to support thousands of refugees each year.  In Arizona there are more than 62,000 refugees who have been forced out of their country of origin due to persecution and violence.

MANA house is a peer-run organization of homeless and formerly homeless veterans offering personal, individualized basic resources, community and advocacy for all veterans. They provide both critical housing needs as well as day center support services. In their housing unit, there was a critical need for bedding, locks and coffee. We purchased 15 sets of sheets and donated 20 pillows which helped provide new linens for resident beds. Additionally, they needed locks for both residents and day center participants to secure their belongings. Finally, they had an urgent need for coffee. Employees donated clothing, hygiene items as well as the bedding items.

Mervyn Braude, Jaburg Wilk Community Chairperson stated, “We are so pleased to be able to support this worthwhile cause for the fifth consecutive year.  These important hygiene and cleaning supplies make such a difference in the lives of refugees as they rebuild. We were thrilled to add the MANA house this year. Most of our employees have deep connection to both the military and veterans. We are happy to make a small difference in their lives after the service that they have provided to our country.”
