Alden is an attorney in our Employment, Commercial Litigation, and Education Law groups. Alden’s practice is multifaceted as she advises both employees and employers. Alden also defends students and educators facing disciplinary proceedings and assists university students with petitions to change their residency classifications and appeals of denied petitions. Her wide array of experience affords her unique insight into how to best protect her clients’ interests.
Before joining Jaburg Wilk, Alden worked for a national law firm, where she practiced primarily in the areas of insurance coverage and civil litigation. After graduating from law school, Alden completed a year-long clerkship with Judge Patricia Orozco at the Arizona Court of Appeals. While clerking, Alden gained invaluable insight into the judicial process and how to effectively persuade judges in written briefs and during oral arguments. She also drafted dozens of appellate opinions and decisions in complex civil, criminal and juvenile matters.
Alden enjoys giving back to the community and has coached multiple undergraduate and law school moot court teams. In 2017, the ASU Law Moot Court Board named her the Coach of the Year after her Representation in Mediation team placed third at the ABA’s national competition. Alden won the national championship as a competitor in law school.

"Ms. Thomas gave me advice on how to appeal my state university rejection of my application for Arizona residency as a student. Being classified as a resident would allow me to pay instate tuition for the rest of my education, at great savings to myself. She knew a great deal about the residency appeal process and her instructions on how to go about the appeal were very clear. I won my appeal, and she deserves a great deal of credit." - Anonymous
