The State of Arizona allows, under certain criteria, annulment of marriage instead of obtaining a divorce. The criteria are limited. Courts may dissolve a marriage unsound if there is an impediment rendering the marriage void. These causes can include marriage between blood relatives (there are some exceptions) and either spouse being underage. Voidable causes may also include:
- Absence of valid marriage license
- Fraud and misrepresentation as to religion.
- Absence of mental or physical capacity
The family law attorneys at Jaburg Wilk analyze whether or not your marriage may be annulled. They assist with obtaining a marriage annulment and returning parties to the status they were prior to the marriage. A religious annulment is not the same as a legal annulment of marriage.
